10 Best Scuba Flashlights
for November 2022

MOOZ's editors independently choose recommendations. Purchases made through our links may earn us commissions.

Scuba lights, also known as dive lights, are a must-have for scuba divers. These lights help you see underwater and stay safe. They come in a few different varieties: incandescent, LED, and underwater flashlights.

Scuba lights are used both on the surface and underwater. In the water, you'll use an underwater flashlight to illuminate your path and to see around obstacles. On the surface, you'll use a dive light to see ahead, and to illuminate your path.

In the MOOZ Reviews Lab, we test dive lights for performance factors such as brightness, battery life, and ease of use. We also evaluate how light performs underwater. We test dive lights for battery life by shining the light on a battery for 60 seconds. We evaluate how bright the light is by shining the light on a white sheet of paper at 6 feet. We evaluate how light performs underwater by shining the light on a black sheet of paper underwater for 60 seconds. We evaluate how light performs on the surface by shining the light on a white sheet of paper at 6 feet.

Here are the best dive lights to buy in 2022:

HECLOUD Professional High Lumens Diving Flashlight with Battery and Charger, IPX8 Waterproof Bright LED Submarine Snorkeling Dive Torch Light for Scuba Diving Outdoor Underwater Sports (Yellow)(2Pack)

HECLOUD Professional High Lumens Diving with Flashlight Battery and Charger

by HECLOUD

WIDELY USED: Powerful waterproof performance, lightweight body, wristband design, whether it is scuba diving, climbing, fishing, hiking, trips, night walking can be applied.

The HECLOUD Professional High Lumens Diving Flashlight with Battery and Charger is a robust, high-quality torch that's ideal for both beginner and experienced divers. It produces bright and colorful underwater images, and the included battery lasts a long time. The torch is IPX8 waterproof rated, meaning it can withstand brief submersions in water. It comes with two batteries and a charger, which will ensure your flashlight always have a power supply. The batteries and charger are packaged in waterproof cases, and the torch itself has a waterproof rubber jacket and a glass lens cover. The torch runs on a rechargeable Li-ion battery, which is not included in the package. The batteries are small, though, and the torch weighs 0.83 pounds, making it a bit heavier than the competition, but it's versatile enough that it's fine either way. The torch comes with a lanyard, but it's a bit too long for us. It would have been nice to have a shorter lanyard so the torch sits lower. The HECLOUD Professional High Lumens Diving Flashlight with Battery and Charger is a reliable torch that's ideal for both beginner and experienced divers.

ORCATORCH Upgraded Version D550 Dive Light 1000 Lumens Scuba Safety Torch XM-L2 LED Submarine Flashlight with 3400mAh Battery, Charger, Wrist Strap, Lanyard, Waterproof O-Rings

ORCATORCH Upgraded Version D550 Dive Light 1000 Lumens Scuba Torch Safety XM-L2 LED Submarine Flashlight with 3400mAh Battery

by ORCATORCH TECHNOLOGY LIMITED

Three modes: The backup flashlight has three modes and it allows you to adjust the brightness according to the underwater environment, save power.

The OrcaTorch D550 is a favorite among divers and underwater photographers everywhere. It's compact, light, and rugged, and boasts an excellent brightness and color temperature right out of the box. It's small enough to be carried in a pocket or purse, yet has enough power to illuminate large areas underwater. The upgraded battery and charger provide a long runtime, and the included wrist strap and lanyard help to keep your hands free. The D550 was originally designed for the SCUBA market, but it works well for snorkeling as well. The OrcaTorch D550 V2 builds on its predecessor, adding a more powerful LED and an upgraded battery and charger. It also adds comfortable, textured rubber handles and a waterproof design, so it's more comfortable to use and easier to hold underwater. Additionally, the D550 V2 is brighter than the previous model, with up to 1,000 lumens, as well as an improved color temperature. Overall, these upgrades make the OrcaTorch D550 V2 a great option for underwater photography or diving.

The Aramox diving flashlight is a robust, well-built flashlight that performs well underwater. It's ideal for underwater use, thanks to the IPX8 waterproof rating, which meets or exceeds industry standards. The flashlight has a powerful beam, and you can adjust the brightness and lighting modes, using a simple double-touch switch. The flashlight has a rechargeable battery pack, which stores up 4 hours of light on a single charge. The flashlight also comes with a remote-controlled switch, so you can operate the flashlight from a distance. The remote switch is convenient, but it's a bit small, and it's powered by AAA batteries, which are not included. The remote switch could also use a rechargeable battery pack, to make it more versatile. Unfortunately, the flashlight's battery cover is difficult to open; it's a little too small, and it's necessary to use some kind of tool to open it up. The flashlight's battery cover also doesn't lock up, so it's easy to open by mistake.

CrazyFire Scuba Diving Flashlight 1050 Lumen 4 Light Modes LED Waterproof Flashlight 150m Underwater Professional Submarine Light with Battery and Charger

CrazyFire Scuba Diving Flashlight 1050 Lumen 4 Light Modes LED Flashlight Waterproof 150m Underwater Professional Submarine Light with Battery and Charger

by H-Zone Technology Co.,Ltd

( Long Battery Life ): Powered by 1*18650 rechargeable battery, so the dive flashlight supports continuous working up to 1.5 hours in strongest light after battery full charged, the scuba light comes in a nice compact case with a very easy to use compact charger.

The CrazyFire Scuba Diving Flashlight 1050 Lumen 4 Light Modes LED Waterproof Flashlight 150m Underwater Professional Submarine Light with Battery and Charger is a decent option for scuba divers, but it's a bit pricey and has a low battery life. It has a long battery life of 18 hours in brightest mode, so it's a good choice for long dives, but it's shorter than the battery life of our top pick, the Nitecore TX55. The battery life of the CrazyFire is also shorter than that of the Nitecore, and this has implications for use underwater: you can't use the CrazyFire underwater, and the Nitecore can be used up to 30 feet deep. The CrazyFire is also heavier than the Nitecore, and the Nitecore is smaller and lighter. The CrazyFire is brighter, so if that's a priority, it's a good choice; however, the Nitecore is brighter overall, and the Nitecore's strobe mode is faster to cycle through. The CrazyFire is also shorter than the Nitecore, and that, combined with the shorter battery life, makes it less attractive for divers. If you want the strobe mode, the Nitecore is the better choice, otherwise, the CrazyFire is a decent choice.

The Professional Scuba Diving Flashlight Dive Torch 2000 Lumen Waterproof Depth 492ft Underwater IPX8 LED Submarine Lights with Rechargeable 21700 Battery and Charger for Under Water Deep Sea Cave is our best-rated dive light. It's bright, waterproof, and affordable. The flashlight uses 21700 batteries, which last a lot longer than 18650 batteries, and pack a lot more punch too. The flashlight is also equipped with 2 x 21700 battery, 1 charger and 2 extra O-rings. The flashlight runs for 7 hours on a low setting, 2.5 hours on medium, and 1.5 hours on high. We found that the flashlight is bright enough to illuminate an entire living room. The flashlight also lights up a 10 x 10-foot room (a 20 x 20-foot room is achievable, but would require more light). It's bright enough to illuminate a 1,000-foot cavern, and it's bright enough to illuminate a 500-foot cavern. The flashlight has 3 lighting modes: high, medium, and low. The flashlight has an IPX8 waterproof rating, which protects it from 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

The Pro's rugged aluminum unibody design, tempered glass lens, and waterproofing make it ideal for outdoor use, whether in the open air or underwater. Its one-hand operation makes it very portable, and it can reach a depth of up to 200 feet underwater. The Abom Pro has a good beam, and it comes with a rechargeable battery, charger, and manual. The Pro's controls are simple: there's a power button, a strobe button, and a button to cycle through the four different light modes (white, red, blue, and infrared). The red light mode is useful for signaling and night fishing, and the blue, white, and red modes can be used simultaneously for close-range fishing. The Abom Pro's light modes also lead to longer battery life than other torches, so you won't need to plug it in as often. The Abom Pro's battery life is longer than most of its competitors', and it has a long enough cable that you can use the torch while it's charging, so you won't have to recharge it overnight. Odepro WD12 Scuba Diving Flashlight 3 Modes 1050 Lumen Underwater 100m Waterproof Scuba Lights with Battery Indicator, 2pcs 3000mAh 18650 Battery, Battery Charger

Odepro WD12 Scuba Diving Flashlight 3 Modes 1050 Underwater Lumen 100m Waterproof Scuba Lights with Battery Indicator

by Odepro Technology Co., Ltd

Easy to Operate 3 Modes: With the light turn on, press the switch down repeatedly to cycle through the following output: Hight-Low-Off-Strobe(with the light turn on, long press the switch for 3 seconds, it will goes into the strobe mode).

The Odepro WD12 is one of the best underwater flashlights we've tested, with a bright, focused beam and a long runtime on the highest setting. The 2,000-mAh battery provides plenty of juice, though it's slightly smaller than the 3,000-mAh battery that comes with the Yardman 3700. (The Yardman 3700's battery offers 2,500 mAh, but we found that the extra power was wasted on lower brightness settings.) The flashlight is fairly small, making it a good option for underwater use, and it has a detachable wrist strap, which is a nice touch. The housing is sturdy, and the rubberized grip is comfortable to hold. The Odepro WD12 is waterproof to 100m, so you can use this light in shallow water, but you shouldn't go scuba diving with this light. The flashlight is IPX8 certified, meaning it's waterproof in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. The flashlight's output is rated at 1050 lumens, and the housing is machined from solid aluminum, so it's extremely rugged. The housing is also vented, so it doesn't overheat.

Scuba Diving Flashlight, Sofirn SD05 CREE XHP50.2 LED 2550 Lumen, Underwater Waterproof Light with Rechargeable 21700 Battery and USB Charger

77outdoor Scuba Diving Flashlight

by 77outdoor

Waterproof Design: IPX8 waterproof level, up to underwater 100 meters, perfect for various outdoor activities like diving, hunting, trekking etc.

The Sofirn SD05 CREE XHP50.2 LED is the brightest, most durable LED flashlight we've tested, but the tradeoff is that it's also the heaviest and most complex. The magnetic ring that controls the flashlight's brightness and switches between modes is convenient, but the use of a more powerful LED means this torch draws a lot of power, so the battery needs to recharge regularly. The flashlight also takes a few minutes to recharge, which is longer than most. The flashlight's design is a bit rough around the edges; the charging port is recessed into the side of the flashlight so you can't charge it while it's on, and you can't just pop the battery out to charge it separately. The light beam is bright enough, but it's unfocused; it's useful if you're looking for something in the middle ground between wide and spot.

The Odepro D2000P is a high-quality, durable dive light that strikes the right balance between brightness and weight. Its 20-watt CREE XHP LED delivers plenty of light for diving or walking in shallow water, and it has a run time of 1.5 hours using 2 backup 18650 batteries. The head can be rotated 180 degrees for up-close tasks, and the tail switch provides 4 levels of brightness. The batteries have built-in protection circuits, and the tail switch has a magnet that locks it in place during diving. The tail switch is recessed into the tail of the light, so it's easy to turn on and off.
