Top 10 Best Mainstays Memory Foam Mattress
for December 2022

If you're in the market for new bedding, you should really check out a memory foam mattress. These mattresses use memory foam to mold to the contours of your body, which helps you feel more supported and comfortable. Memory Foam Mattresses come in two different varieties, including memory foam and gel memory foam. Both foam types have the benefit of helping your body stay cool through the night.

Our mattress experts in the MOOZ Lab test mattresses for comfort and support, testing mattresses for softness, support, heat retention and pressure relief. We evaluate how well mattresses sleep through the night, as well as how easy it is to clean up spills. When testing for durability, our experts test mattresses for rips, stains, smell and sagging. Here are the best memory foam and gel memory foam mattresses:

Mainstay Sofa Sleeper with Memory Foam Mattress | No-Tool Easy Assembly (Grey)

Mainstay Sofa Sleeper with Foam Memory Mattress

by Mainstay

Pocketed Coil Seating, No-Tool Easy Assembly , Upholstery Grade Woven Polyester Fabric

The Mainstay Sofa Sleeper is as comfortable as it is affordable, and it's so much easier to assemble than our other pick from this list, the BenQ GS2. You don't even have to lift the mattress out of its box to put it on, it unfolds like an accordion and then unfolds backward again, leaving just two feet or so of leg room on one end. The 4-inch-thick memory foam, which feels a bit more firm than the 3.5-inch foam in the BenQ, is extremely durable, and once you sit on it, you won't want to get up. The sofa is fine for most people, but if you're particularly tall, note that the back rest is cut at an angle, so the mattress is lower than it looks. This sofa also folds up well for storage, and it's surprisingly light at around 125 pounds. The sofa is shipped unassembled, so assembly will require a hammer, flat wood, a drill, and some elbow grease. A nail gun could also be used, but we found that a hammer was easier, especially if working with a small apartment or house.

Mainstay Memory Foam Futon Sofa (Black, 1)

Mainstay Memory Foam Futon Sofa (Black

by Mainstay

Contemporary design upholstered in soft, and fabric

The Dutailier 409-11855 Mainstay Memory Foam Futon Sofa is a decent, entry-level choice from a company that's well-reputed for quality products. It's comfortable, sturdy, and feels sturdy to hold and move. However, this is not the most budget-friendly choice, as it's priced about $75 higher than our cheapest pick, and you can get a similar product for less than $200. In fact, you can get something better, such as the Sealy Posturepedic Linden Sofa, for around $100 less.

Mainstay Memory Foam Futon

by Mainstay

Durable metal legs

The memory foam was comfortable, but the futon itself wasn't as comfortable as the J Queen New York B4000. We measured the Graco Nautilus Elite Portable High Chair as most comfortable, but also the most bulky. The Graco Travel Lite High Chair was a little more portable, with its adjustable height and convenient folding chair. As for the Baby Trend Sit N Stand, the Baby Trend Sit N Stand Double Jogger and Baby Trend Sit N Stand Double Jogger Portable High Chair, our testers generally found them to be more comfortable.

The Mainstays futon is quite comfortable and has a lovely, inviting presence. The seat cushion is 3.5 inches thick and consists of high and firm density memory foam. The back cushion is 1.8 inches deep, and it consists of 1-1.5 inch of gel memory foam. The Mainstays Futon is significantly larger than it looks in the photograph and is comfortable for 2 people to sleep on it. We slept on it for 2 nights without any problems. The Mainstays futon has an adjustable reclining back cushion that lifts up to allow access to the storage underneath. There is also an adjustable leg rest. The Mainstays futon also comes with a 1 year warranty.

Mainstay Half-Fold Metal Box Spring, King (King)

Mainstay Half-Fold Metal Box Spring

An innovative design allows the box spring to easily fold up for storage and transport when not in us

We like the Mainstay Queen, but the Mainstay King does even better, thanks to extra-long rails that provide more stability and a better night's sleep. The box spring's dimensions are 79" x 75.5" x 9", and it weighs 48 pounds – not unmanageable, but larger than the average king box spring. Assembly is reasonably straightforward, and you shouldn't have any trouble fitting it into most standard-sized bedrooms. Our queen and king testers liked the smoother action of the Mainstay box spring and reported absolutely no sagging after extended testing periods. It's also worth noting that the Mainstay box spring has no off-gassing. The 100% polyester jacquard cover is removable and machine-washable, and the box spring comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty. The Mainstay King Box Spring is a great deal at this price point, and we give it our Editor's Choice.

This is the standard 1.5-inch-thick, full-size futon mattress with a 6-inch-foam topper. It position in the metal frame and tucks beneath the futon frame: it's designed to just fit. It's comfortable enough, but won't provide much padding, and it's thin enough to feel harsh on your hips or shoulders. It's best used as a sofa, or as a sleep surface for a guest room.

Mainstay Connectrix Faux Leather Futon, Multiple Colors (Black)

Mainstay Connectrix Faux Leather Futon

by Mainstays

Adjustable armrests with built-in cup holders, Mainstays Connectrix Black Faux Leather Futon easily and quickly converts from sofa to twin-sized bed.

This futon looks and acts as advertised, with a nice-looking, black faux leather upholstery and a fold-down backrest for added comfort and support. The armrests have built-in cup holders, and the foam mattress felt nice to sleep on. It's available in several colors, including navy, red, beige, black, and white, and it's big enough to seat two people or serve as a daybed. What's not to like? The armrests are a bit stiff, and there's a noticeable gap between the seat and the base when you sit up straight. But all in all, the futon is a nice buy for bedding on a budget.

Mainstays Memory Foam Convertble Futon, Camel

Mainstays Memory Foam Convertble Futon

by Mainstays MS56-010-107-06

Adjustable arms Durable plastic legs

This futon is comfy, has a great look, and is priced right. The memory foam is dense, but not too thick, and the back is firm enough to provide good back support. The sofa arms are long and wide enough to lean back on, but thin enough that you should be able to comfortably lie down on them. As a futon, it easily folds out into a bed, and it's easy to set up.

Mainstay 6

Mainstay 6" Bonnell Coil Mattress

by Mainstays6057119

Meets federal flammability standard CFR 1633 5.5 of 13.5 gauge high performance comfort coil springs offer consistent support and proper balance

This mattress features 1" of cotton batting quilted to a thick layer of polyurethane foam. The 6" coil count helps deliver firm support, but the quilting and thick foam make it more plush and comfortable than some competitors. The fitted sheet is sewn to the mattress and can be removed and washed. The net weight is 31.5 lbs, so it's a little on the heavy side (it won't fit in most car trunks), but the coil count and thick foam make it supportive and durable. Store it indoors, where it will stay clean and dry.
